 Bob Moore, the visionary behind Bob's Red Mill and an iconic figure in the natural foods industry, peacefully passed away at his home in Milwaukie, Oregon, on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the age of 94. Throughout his life, Moore was renowned for his larger-than-life personality, unwavering commitment to whole grains, relentless work ethic, and remarkable generosity.

A true entrepreneur at heart, Moore's journey into the world of healthy foods and whole grain milling began during his parenthood years and culminated in the founding of Bob's Red Mill in 1978. What started as a small venture catering to local customers in Portland, Oregon, quickly blossomed into a global phenomenon. Today, Bob's Red Mill is a leading brand offering over 200 products across more than 70 countries worldwide.

Moore's enduring legacy is not only marked by his business acumen but also by his profound dedication to his employees. In 2010, he established the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) on his 81st birthday, ensuring that the company's ownership was transferred to the very people who helped shape its success. Today, more than 700 employee owners proudly carry on his vision.

"Bob's legacy will forever resonate within all of us who had the privilege to work alongside him," remarked Bob's Red Mill CEO Trey Winthrop. In addition to his contributions to the natural foods industry, Moore and his late wife Charlee were staunch supporters of education and nutritional health. Their philanthropic endeavors included substantial donations to Oregon universities, including the establishment of the Moore Family Center for Whole Grain Foods, Nutrition, and Preventive Health at Oregon State University.

Moore is survived by his three sons, Ken, Bob Jr., and David, along with their spouses, nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. His profound impact on the world will be deeply missed by his family, the Bob's Red Mill community, and all those whose lives he touched.

A celebration of life service is being planned to honor Moore's memory, with details to be announced.
